People displaced within the borders of a country remain the responsibility of the state that has often caused them to be displaced or which is otherwise unable or unwilling to assist them.

Special Rapporteur solidarity action

Join our call of support to Tom Bahme Nyanduga, Special Rapporteur on Refugees, Asylum Seekers and IDPs of the African Commission on Human and People’s Rights as he tries to mobilise African governments to better protect IDPs.

With the responsibility to “develop and recommend effective strategies to better protect the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and internally displaced persons in Africa and to follow up on his recommendations”, you have a key role to play to ensure that the rights of IDPs in Africa are better protected.
