Sudan

The long-running conflict between the Government and the Southern based Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army, finally brought to an end with the signing of a peace agreement in December 2004, caused an estimated 3.2 million to be displaced. Conflict since 2003 in Darfur in the west of the country has displaced hundreds of thousands more within Sudan and across the border into Chad. Attacks in Darfur are ongoing and many continue to be forced to flee.
